Sima Hall

I am a qualified Speech Pathologist with over 15 years experience working with children to help them develop confidence in their communication and build their linguistic skills.

I obtained my qualification from La Trobe University and then went on to work in Melbourne in the rehabilitation setting with adults, as well as with children. In 2006 I relocated to Dubai, where I worked for 13 years in general medical clinics and then in a paediatric clinic for children and teens. During that time I also had the opportunity to provide services in the British and the American education systems, working with children and their families from around the world.

I am a mother to two boys, aged 8 and 5, and love spending time with my family and in my spare time, doing sewing, crochet and bike riding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first step in obtaining Speech Therapy?

All treatment commences with a consultation, where we discuss the difficulties that are being experienced, how long it has been happening, and any previous treatments or therapies that have been tried. Once the history of the client is established, we will discuss and commence the assessment process.

How many sessions can I expect to have?

Depending on the communication difficulty and its severity, the number of sessions required will vary. This will be discussed during the consultation.

What can my child expect during the first Speech Therapy consultation?

Just as the physical development of children can be measured in ‘milestones’ or expected ages and stages of development, so too speech and language development is measured according to a child’s age.

We need to consider how your child is expressing themselves (Expressive Language) and what they’re understanding (Receptive language). An initial consultation would involve discussion about your child’s communication, observing them playing and communicating during the session and an initial assessment.

As children may shy in the first session, you may also wish to bring along a video clip of your child communicating with you at home, which you’ve recorded on your mobile phone.

Do I have to come to your clinic?

As well as the clinic in Box Hill, we offer services at schools, kindergarten or health care facilities. We are also equipped with Teletherapy technology.

What are my payment options?

The clinic accepts credit card payments and most major private health insurance fund rebates are processed at the time of payment.
